There are only two service stations on the M3:

Fleet Services

Mile 60, km 96, near Basingstoke

Days Inn Hotel Fleet – On the southbound side, access from northbound side via footbridge. Free parking, free WiFi, 24h front desk, pets allowed.

Winchester Services

Mile 37, km 60, near Winchester

Days Inn Winchester – Southbound only, no northbound access. Free parking, free WiFi, 24h front desk, pets allowed.

Junction 1 (Sunbury-on-Thames)

The M3 starts in Sunbury-on-Thames in Surrey, southwest of Central London. There is a Premier Inn immediately next to the roundabout where the motorway starts – Premier Inn Sunbury - Kempton Park. This is a nice hotel with modern furnishings, a work desk and TV in each room and free WiFi.

Junction 2 (M3/M25)

Junction 2 (marked as junction 12 on the M25) is a big motorway interchange without any access to smaller local roads and therefore no accommodation directly at this junction.

If you are coming from, or going to, the north on the M25 (Heathrow Airport, M4, M40, M1), there is a hotel in a very nice green location just off M25 junction 13 – Colne Valley Bed & Breakfast, with free parking and free WiFi.

If you are coming from, or going to, the south-east on the M25 (Gatwick Airport, M23, M20), the most conveniently located hotel near the M3 is Days Inn Cobham, with free parking and free WiFi, situated directly at Cobham service station between M25 junctions 9 and 10 – a very modern one, opened in 2012. It is accessible from both directions.

Junction 3 (Bagshot, Lightwater)

There are two hotels near J3 and while a bit further away than most other hotels listed on this page (1.5-2 miles), both are highly rated by guests.

The Inn West End – Free WiFi, free parking, a good restaurant and allows pets.

Pennyhill Park, an Exclusive Hotel & Spa – A 5 star hotel in a 19th century manor house and one of the best places you can find near the M3. Offers extensive fitness and wellness facilities, including a spa with 8 pools and a golf course.

Junction 4 (Farnborough, Aldershot)

If you prefer an apartment, there are two options very close to junction 4: Old Rectory Court Frimley and Meadow Rentals.

A number of hotels can be found in Farnborough and Camberley, each 2 miles from J4 on different sides of the motorway. Farnborough is also well accessible from the next junction, 4A.

Junction 5 (Hook)

There are three hotels within a mile from J5, two of them in Hook town centre and the other on A30, which runs parallel with M3.

Raven Hotel – A traditional hotel and pub with refurbished rooms with flat-screen TV. Free parking, free WiFi, family rooms available.

Innkeeper's Lodge Hook – Free parking, free WiFi, ensuite bathrooms fitted with a bath. Nice garden and terrace. Family rooms available.

Basingstoke Country Hotel & Spa – This is the one on A30, situated in beautiful countryside. Fitness, sauna, spa and indoor pool. Free parking.

Junction 6 (Basingstoke, A339, A33)

Basingstoke town centre is less than 2 miles from J6 and offers numerous accommodation options. The hotel closest to the motorway exit is The Basingstoke Hotel, which comes with free parking, free WiFi, a gym, meeting rooms and business facilities.

The other junction that serves Basingstoke in the south (J7) has no accommodation in close proximity, except the hotel below near J8.

Junction 8 (A303)

Junction 8 is where road A303 splits from the M3. It has southbound M3 exit and northbound entry only. If you are going to, or coming from, the A303, there is a hotel (Wheatsheaf Basingstoke by Good Night Inns) on the A30 which runs parallel to the M3 here, accessible from either the first A303 junction and from M3 junction 7.

Junctions 9 & 10 (Winchester, A34, A31)

These two junctions are both within a mile from Winchester city centre, where you can find several good places to stay. One downside is that parking might be a challenge with some of these hotels, or may come at a charge. Some conveniently located hotels with their own free parking include Hotel du Vin Winchester, Wykeham Arms and Saskia's B&B.

Hotels on M3 near Southampton

Junction 13 (Eastleigh)

One of the most conveniently located hotels near the Southampton end of M3 is a Holiday Inn that is 300 metres from junction 13 in Eastleigh – Holiday Inn Southampton Eastleigh. If offers free parking, free WiFi and a wide range of room types, including some with disability access. It also has an indoor pool, spa and fitness.

A bit further down the main street, but still less than a mile from J13 is an apartment hotel Beddoe Apartments, also with free parking, for those who prefer this kind of accommodation.

Junction 14 (M3/M27)

The M3 motorway ends at junction 14 at the northern edge of Southampton. There is a hotel immediately next to the M3 end – Hilton Southampton. If you are a family or a larger group, there are serviced apartments available less than a mile from the M3 end on the main street going to Southampton city centre – Southampton Serviced Apartments.
