Prague Holešovice Train Station

Holešovice train station, or Nadrazi Holešovice in Czech, is the second most important railway station in Prague, after Prague central station (Hlavní nádraží). It is located in the northern part of Prague’s greater city centre on the bank of the Vltava river, in a district bearing the same name, Holešovice.

The main entrance to the railway station is from Vrbenská Street. Access to Prague local transport (metro, trams, buses) is from other nearby streets, Plynární (most trams and buses) and Partyzánská (trams to Troja and Prague city centre).

International trains from Prague to Germany (to Dresden and Berlin) stop at Praha Holešovice station, as well as Czech Republic domestic long distance trains in this direction (to Ústí nad Labem and Děčín) and regional trains.

Some regional trains stop at Praha Holešovice train stop (Zastávka) rather than the station – the stop is located in Železničářů Street, 3-5 minutes walk from Praha Holešovice train station.

Nádraží Holešovice Metro Station

The metro station directly at Holešovice train station is named Nádraží Holešovice. It is 4 metro stops (6-8 minutes’ ride) from Wenceslas Square (the main square in Prague city centre), 3 stops from Hlavní nádraží (central train station) and 2 stops from Florenc (central bus station) – all these stations are direct on metro line C (red).

Interesting Places near Holešovice Station

Although it is away from the main historical district of Prague, there are several attractions close to Holešovice station. In Holešovice district (same side of the river) there is Výstaviště (exhibition grounds) with the spectacular Křižík Fountain (Křižíkova fontána) and an amusement park. There is also an ice hockey arena (home of Sparta Prague Hockey Club) and a huge park next to Výstaviště, named Stromovka (Tree Park). You can get there by tram from Holešovice station (just one stop – Výstaviště) or just walk 6-8 minutes. One more tram stop gets you to the National Gallery, situated in the Trade Fair Palace (Veletržní Palác) in Dukelských Hrdinů Street.

Several other attractions are situated on the other side of the river in Troja (Troy) district, with direct and frequent bus connection from Holešovice station, taking about 10 minutes. The attractions include Prague Zoo and Botanical Garden, as well as Troja Palace and its gardens. Halfway between Holešovice station and the Zoo, on the Troja side of the river, there is Prague Troja Canoe Slalom Centre, a regular canoe slalom World Cup site.
