The Nearest: Charing Cross
The tube station that is closest to Trafalgar Square is Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines). One exit from this station is located directly at the bottom left (when looking down from the National Gallery) corner of the square, next to the Havelock statue. Another entrance is in front of the Charing Cross railway station, one block from Trafalgar Square on the Strand.

There are three other tube stations very close (within 5 minutes’ walk) to Trafalgar Square. These stations provide access to additional underground lines and direct access to many places all over London.
Leicester Square
Leicester Square station (Northern and Piccadilly lines) is situated behind the National Gallery on the right side (when looking upwards at Trafalgar Square) in Charing Cross Road. Piccadilly line provides direct link with King’s Cross and St. Pancras railway stations, Holborn, Covent Garden, Green Park (Buckingham Palace), Hyde Park Corner, South Kensington (Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum), Hammersmith and Heathrow Airport.
Piccadilly Circus
Piccadilly Circus station (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines) is located directly at Piccadilly Circus, which is to the north-west from Trafalgar Square. The best way to walk from there to Trafalgar Square is via Leicester Square (the square, not the station) or Haymarket (the street with Her Majesty’s Theatre).
Embankment
Embankment station (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern lines) is best for getting off when you are taking the District or Circle line. These lines provide direct link with places including Victoria station, Big Ben + London Eye (although these are close enough to walk), Notting Hill, Paddington station, the City of London, Tower of London and Liverpool Street station.
